  • What inspired you to start Spazio, and what is it today?

It was in 2020, when my father, after working as an architect and professor for decades long, decided to show his artworks to a group of friends and family. from my early childhood on, I remember him using every second of his spare time painting, sculpting, building things. this first exhibition was a result of a this long journey of his.

  • eventually he was ready to show it to a small circle of selected people. I helped him setting up the space, hanging the artworks, inviting friends, writing and layouting brochures. This turned out very well and we started thinking about opening a space for exhibitions and workshops, with some artists we knew. Briefly after that, we got an inquiry from an artist in Parma, Italy, who wanted to exhibit in Munich. Without thinking too much, I organised the paperwork, selected the artworks together with my father and we went through the same procedure but bigger - more people, public, brochures, pricelists, drinks and food; it was another success. The next was a dear friend from Lisbon, João Bragança, who is an incredibly dedicated and meticulous architect and artist.

  • Now with a website, instagram, better lighting, larger audience, a thought suddenly hit me - “am I building something serious here, and if I am, what is it?”. Turned out I quit my job and went a 100%. Writing, thinking, building a solid plan.

This phase enlightened me with a clearer vision: A place where I share my lifestyle, a living room full of objects I personally curate, a place where people can learn and get in contact with these talented creators that I personally admire, who pour their heart and soul into their work.

From 2021 to the end of 2024 we hosted many successful events. Eventually, the concept grew beyond typologic and topographic boundaries.

Our goal for 2025 is to be more collaborative and international. to travel the world and pop up at new places.

  • today, Spazio is a collaborative platform that brings together art, design, and culture.

We curate unique, collectible pieces, (co-)organize immersive events - exhibitions, pop-ups, workshops, and panel discussions.

We offer expert advisory services, supporting event planners, curators, artists, and clients alike :
We provide specialized advisory services for businesses, real estate projects, private collectors, and Kunst am Bau.

For artists, we offer dedicated support and a strong community to help them grow and thrive.

As we expand online and into new cities, we continue to showcase a curated selection of works that embody quality, authenticity, and the passion of their creators.

  • What exactly do you show and sell at spazio? What are your priciples?

After going through a lot of thoughts that time, I eventually included more than just paintings and sculptures. Being a designer and seeing myself more like an artist than a product designer or architect, I started questioning: Where does art start and where does it end? The great masters hundreds of years ago were architects, painters, scultpures, engineers, scientists at the same time. They were observers and expressed themselves and their knowledge by creating buildings, objects and paintings. Artists within every aspect of their lives.

  • we're Splitting into categories, defining what art is and whatnot - we are drawning in drawers nowadays. Sticking to what I define as art, kept me finding more and more of these incredibly devoted and enthusiastic people. Doing exhibitions, building installations like a pop-up store for collectible design, organising workshops, building a community, I discovered how awesome it is for me to connect to artists and learn about them. This super-tiny unknown gallery in a backyard of a historical building in Munich developed to a small platform presenting and selling artworks that truly meant something to me.

  • Surviving Covid, expanding with an online shop in 2022 and a 160 squaremeter physial space in the beginning of 2023, we were showing artists from various disciplines, young to old, emerging to well known. All this was enriched with aesthetic buffets, private dinners and setting up many beautiful installations, exhibitions, hosting workshops, we even opened a pop-up specialty coffee bar which worked incredibly well. I dream of connecting people, different target groups who would not get in contact with each other in any other situation,

  • all coming together for one mutual reason - celebrating the magic of what I call 'soul-driven' artworks, and the unique atmosphere we create when hosting these events. Today, we are shifting spazio more towards a balance between analogue and digital, building a better experience online and popping up at different locations around the world, still having our office base where spazio was born, in the heart of Munich.

What do you want people to feel when they discover this platform? How do you define “soul-driven” work?

Spazio was born from a lifelong love for art and the stories that shape it. From a young age, I was drawn to aesthetics, being born into and raised from an intellectual and artistic family. Form, texture, color, the feel of handmade works, the reflection of a creators mind on an object always inspired and enriched my own life. I’m a good listener, I think highly of people who open up and tell their story. Over time, working as a professional in various creative fields from fine arts, product design, interior and architecture - my eye was sharpened and the stories accumulated. These are some aspects that reflect my own personality in Spazio. Here, we value authenticity over convenience, and quality over quantity, celebrate aesthetics and stories. Ranging from oil paintings and sculptures, to design and culinary arts, we include many disciplines under one umbrella, one shared characteristic: The creator's meticulous dedication and passion, their excellence in skill, the soul their works receive while being created - some may see it as madness almost, a wonder. An artist creating an artwork can be a long, painful journey, mastering a skill to perfection, shaping the final result only when it's ready to show. This is the way I navigate through the vastness of arts. And I call it 'soul-driven' arts.

  • How do you choose the artists and creators featured on Spazio? Is there a particular story or artist that embodies Spazio’s vision?

With our network of advisors, colleagues, and professionals from various creative fields, we carefully discuss what will be showcased and what will not. The result is a unique atmosphere and experience. We get to know each of the creators on this platform, delve into their personalities, and take excursions into their works. We are genuinely connected to what appears here.

  • To me, artists are dreamers, craftsmen, and radicals in their own right. They pour their passion and life’s work into each piece, crafting objects that tell personal and intricate stories. Many spend years honing techniques passed down through generations, while others exceed with new paths, creating the unexpected.

Of course, there is an economic side that must also be considered, but it is equally about discovering the people behind the works and supporting one another as we foster creative exchange across different disciplines.

  • How do you hope each piece will impact the lives of those who bring it home?

We have had many talented artists in the past and even more today. Our lives are full of objects and we are overpoured with information and advertisment. We buy things even if we don’t need them, catched in moments of vulnerability by intelligent algorithms and expensive marketing. What I mean is, it’s important more than ever to surround ourselves with objects that have another layer, a soul and a quality you can’t get from big production.

  • We throw away things not because they have become useless, but because they have no soul, not being ‘worth’ to be repaired or loved. This is not about mass production. It could even be a cheap convenience chocolate bar, but if it was a present by the love of your life, it would taste like the best ever. Surrounding yourself with objects that connect you to people, stories or memories is what creates a healthy and beautiful environment. we are taking care of curating aesthetic, meaningful objects of quality, and you can take them home.

What would you say to someone visiting Spazio for the first time?

Spazio isn't just a platform, or a store, or a gallery – it’s my personal living room, an invitation to pause and connect. Here, everything has a story and a soul. I handpick each piece, personally getting to know the artists who crafted them, each with a unique vision and unwavering dedication. When you browse through spazio, or work with us, you will feel that connection, that respect for skill and passion. Take your time, enjoy and if you'd like to – take a piece of that experience home.
